Summer is officially here!
It might not look like it or feel like it but today is the first day of summer. And in the colourful beauty and make up world there is no better way to celebrate but by doing a little bit of shopping. It might seem like we all have enough stuff, even if we never feel like we do, but this year's spring/summer make up collections are full of gorgeous, vibrant colours, delicate pastels and sparkling glitter! It seems that make up companies have made an effort this year and presented us with an irresistible color palette, unlikely anything we have seen before. And so I run to my favourite drugstore and started stocking up on all of these gorgeous products, because you never know if this shall ever be repeated. As they say (whoever 'they' are) little goes a long way, and so rather than buying it all in one go I have started with a few products here and there and my journey is far from over.
Summer, to most people, brings back memories of strawberry ice cream, handfuls of aromatic blueberries with cream and the sound of sea waves hitting the shore. It is the time of getting brown and getting burnt, and even the skin hot from the sun has its special scent. And as we grew older we might have become more wary of things and we now go for the low-fat ice cream and skip the cream altogether. We put so much SPF on our bodies it is the palest shade of pale no matter how longer we have been in the sun. And we now spend our summer in cities, with sky scrapers so tall we no longer see the sun, and only on our way back from work listen to the sound of waves on our iPhone. And so if you are anything like me, trapped in this craziness of a day-to-day life, where we rarely experience the simple pleasures, let's celebrate summer in our own way and paint our nails with Ginger Melon by Revlon, spray our skin with the Victoria Secrets Plum and Freesia spray and put some Electric Shock Maybelline lipgloss on our lips. And that sun that we never see? Well, there's enough bronzers for us to look like we have been touched by a thousand suns.
Here's to the summer and what we make of it in our big crowded cities, trotting on our heated pavements and listening to the ocean waves over the noise of passing cars.
