If I had to choose a drugstore foundation that is fit for all sorts of purposes the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation would be the one.
It is a medium coverage, medium consistency (perfect for applying with a beauty blender) day-to-day foundation that you can wear pretty much for any occasion - work, school, dinner or party.
For a medium coverage foundation it covers skin discolouration decently - it worked really well on my pink complexion. Applied with a blender or brush, distributes evenly and leaves this slightly wet sensation on the skin. It will also provide a natural glow - nothing too shiny though.

The foundation comes only in 6 shades (in the UK), which comparing to some other foundations does not seem to cover the whole colour spectrum and considering that it is fairly pigmented for a foundation it will not blend very well with your skin if it is too light or too dark.
It stays on throughout the day, however after a few hours starts looking a bit caky - perhaps as my skin sucks out all of the moisture from it to stay hydrated. However, comparing to most of the drugstore foundations that I tried it is is still on the face by the end of the day, even if the coverage or the overall look is far from perfect.
I have a combination skin, with oily nose and large pores but also fairly dehydrated and flaky skin on forehead and sides of the nose. After applying moisturiser this foundation leaves the natural shine on the skin and makes it look very natural.

At £8.99 it is well worth the money, especially with drugstores constantly running promotions on Rimmel (which means that a lot of the time you can get it way cheaper or with a gift) and it is one of the best inexpensive foundations on the market. It comes in a really nice packaging - bottle with a pump, which makes it easy to get the product out.
The bottle that I have now is the third one that I purchased in the last 2 years and I keep coming back to it, If you are on a budget and want something simple, easy to use and value for money than this foundation might be just what you need.
